Terms and Conditions

The rules that apply to registration, fees, classes and use of this website.

Last updated: October 2026

Please read these terms carefully before registering a student with The Mind Chess Academy.

1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to registration with, and participation in classes, tournaments and other services offered by, The Mind Chess Academy ("the Academy", "we", "us"), based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and to the use of this website.

Where a student is under 18, these terms are accepted by the parent or guardian who registers the student. By registering, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.

2. Admission and registration

  • Admission is subject to review and approval by the Academy. We may decline a registration where, for example, no suitable batch is available.
  • Group classes are for children aged 5 to 15, and one-to-one coaching can start at age 4. Classes may include students from different grades and standards.
  • You must provide accurate and complete registration details, including contact details and payment reference information, and tell us promptly if they change.
  • If your preferred class timing is unavailable, the student may be placed on a waiting list. We will notify you when a batch matching your preferred timing begins.

3. Fees and payment

  • Fees are charged according to the Academy's fee schedule for the selected course and plan, as published on our Pricing page at the time of registration.
  • The published fee is the full amount payable: there is no registration fee, no platform fee and no GST, and no hidden charges.
  • Fees for the selected plan must be paid in advance, before the classes covered by that payment begin.
  • Payment is made using the payment methods provided by the Academy. Please keep and share the payment reference so we can match your payment to your registration.
  • We may verify payments before confirming enrollment or continuing classes.
  • Fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable to another student, course or period, except where a refund is required by applicable law.

4. Classes and scheduling

  • Group classes run at the batch timings confirmed at registration. One-to-one coaching is scheduled flexibly across time zones.
  • Free Sunday master class and live practice tournament, in addition to the two weekly live classes.
  • Where a class falls on a scheduled holiday, it will continue on the next working day.
  • If a class begins later than scheduled, its duration will be extended to cover that day's curriculum.
  • We may need to adjust class schedules, coaches, batch arrangements or services for operational reasons. We will make such changes reasonably and communicate them to parents in advance wherever possible.

5. Attendance and missed classes

  • All sessions are recorded. Students who miss a class are expected to review the recording and online materials before the next class.
  • Group classes: a missed class is not refunded, compensated, made up or rescheduled; the recording remains available to the student.
  • One-to-one coaching: a class cancelled with appropriate prior notice may be rescheduled with the coach.

6. Online class conduct and safety

To keep classes safe and productive for every child, students and parents agree to:

  • Behave respectfully towards coaches and other students, in class, in tournaments and in any class chat.
  • Not record, share or redistribute class links, sessions or materials without the Academy's permission.
  • Not share personal contact details with other students through class channels.
  • Use a suitable device and internet connection, and supervise younger children as appropriate during online classes.
  • Tell us promptly about any behaviour or content that makes a student feel unsafe.

7. Misconduct, misuse and non-payment

If a student or parent seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms — for example through misconduct, disruption of classes, misuse of class links or materials, or non-payment of fees due — the Academy may take proportionate action. This may include a warning, temporary suspension or, for serious or continued breaches, removal from classes. Except where immediate action is needed to protect students, we will normally contact the parent first and give an opportunity to respond.

8. Intellectual property

The Academy's website content, teaching materials, class recordings, puzzles we create, name and branding are owned by or licensed to the Academy. They are provided for the personal learning of enrolled students and may not be copied, sold or redistributed without our written permission. Chess puzzles from the Lichess open database remain subject to their own public-domain licence.

Photographs and videos captured during classes and tournaments are the intellectual property of the Academy, and we may share games played during classes or tournaments. Personal information in such material is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.

9. Use of this website

Please use this website lawfully and do not attempt to disrupt it or access it without authorisation. We aim to keep information accurate, but course details, schedules and fees may change; the fee schedule at the time of registration applies.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Academy is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage arising from attendance at our classes, sessions, special events or tournaments, the use of this website, or the purchase and use of our services. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability, or any right or remedy you have, that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

11. Disputes and governing law

If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it promptly and fairly. These terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to any rights you have under applicable consumer law, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Changes do not affect fees already paid for a current period.
